Mindless Self Indulgence

Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy
MSI album cover

Reviewed November 11, 2000
Short, sweet, but not simple. That sums up the thirty alphabetically-organized tracks on Mindless Self Indulgence's 2000 release with an overly long title, Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy . If you like the hyperbole of ICP, but are looking for a band with magnitudes more musical talent, MSI is for you.

I don't really know what to call the music. MSI call it industrial jungle pussy punk. It sounds like a mix of industrial and rap with a pinch of metal. As for the lyrics, if you think Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" is offensive, just wait till you here Frankenstein Girls . Far beyond the lyrics of Eminem and the Bloodhound Gang, MSI keeps the offensivness inwardly directed and funny as hell, unlike ICP. And lead singer Little Jimmy Urine goes nuts with his vocal cords to add to your good time while listening.

Frankenstein Girls  isn't exactly a long album considering it has thirty tracks. Those tracks add up to only 55 minutes since most of them hover around two minutes a piece. This can be a good thing, though, because the disc can become somewhat tiring after awhile. Maybe it just messes with my head too much, but I can't seem to listen to the album more that a couple times a week.

There are a few songs I like to listen too more often. "Faggot", "Bitches", "Holy Shit", "I Hate Jimmy Page", and "Planet of the Apes" are my favorites for reasons I really don't know.

MSI have a good disc on their hands, but due to the repeatability issues mentioned above, I must only give Frankenstein Girls  2.5 of 5 stars.
